Couch To 5K

Couch to 5k is a programme designed to help you gradually build up towards running 5km in 9 weeks.  There will be 2 sessions a week from 13th January – 11th March.

We will start with intervals of 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds walking and over time build up to 30 minutes of non stop running.

With 2 led sessions a week, you will be helped and guided through the runs.  Each session will start and end at Oriam where there are changing facilities and lockers.  To celebrate our success over the 9 weeks we will then run Oriam parkrun together on Sat 14^th March.

Oriam Personal Trainers

Oriam is currently looking to expand its team of Personal Trainers. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre!

We are looking for trainers to start middle of January and we have hourly and freelance positions available.

Bump club classes are a great way to keep fit and healthy whilst pregnant, or if you have recently welcomed a new baby into the world. There are two bump classes we offer –

Mum and Bump

Our Mum and Bump classes are designed to keep you and your bump fit and healthy.  Each class will incorporate some cardio and strength exercises. 

The classes are run in 4 week blocks costing £26 per block.

Mondays 7.20pm – 8.05pm

Mum and Baby

Our Mum and Baby classes are relaxed, fun classes where Mum can train and baby can play. These classes are designed to help you get back to fitness without having to worry about childcare.

The class will include cardio and strength exercises with a focus on returning the core and pelvic floor muscles to full strength.
These classes are run in 8 week blocks costing £52 per block.

Wednesdays 10am-10.45am

Fridays 09.30am – 10.15am

Classes start back week beginning 13^th January.

Our Tots to Teens Programme will return for block 3 in the new year. These classes are for 2-11yrs with sports from Athletics to Netball.

The block will run for 11 weeks from Monday 13th Jan until Friday 3rd April (excluding w/c 10th Feb). Rebooking will open for current members on Friday 6^th December and will open to the public on Monday 16^th December.

The classes are an excellent way to keep your kids fit and healthy, plus the chance to meet new friends and give mum and dad a little break.

Over the month of December we are hosting a variety of events, most notably the Scottish Rugby Union boys school finals plus Scottish Squash Junior open 2019.

Scottish Rugby Union Boys Finals

Wednesday 4th December we are hosting 4 of the 8 boys rugby finals. We have two under 16 matches and two under 18 matches. The first match kicks off at 11am, all matches are taking place on our outdoor rugby pitches. All matches are free entry so come along and show your support. 

Scottish Squash Junior Open

The JC Lindsay Scottish Squash Junior Open takes place Saturday 28th – Monday 30th December. There will a number of age groups showcasing their skills, from girls under 11s up to boys under 17s. A great way to finish the year as we look forward to an exciting 2020.

GO4 Set

 Go4SET is a science, engineering and technology competition that aims to encourage pupils into considering a career in STEM subjects. Thursday 5th December we will welcome pupils from across Edinburgh and the lothians as they compete and showcase their projects.

Sport Scotland Symposium

Creating an environment that consistently contributes to developing world class talent is difficult and complex. The symposium will explore talent development from differing perspectives. Oriam Advent Calendar

At Oriam we are getting into the Christmas spirit as we begin our advent calendar countdown towards Christmas day. Our fitness team are very much in the spirit and have already began sharing their Christmas recipes and Christmas cracker jokes across our social media platforms.

Keep your eyes peeled for the teams fitness videos, fitness tips and more as the build up to Christmas kicks in. If you have any questions about any the information shared through our Oriam Advent Calendar please speak with a member of the fitness team.

Our Fitness team are running an offer for personal training sessions for anyone that would like to get fit pre/post Christmas. This offer runs until the 31st December, 5 pack personal training for £135.

Please also note that Technogym will be filming inside the new fitness suite throughout December and January. Please speak with a member of the gym team if you have any concerns.
