Oriam Facility Update – July 2021
What’s changed at Oriam following Scotland moving to Level 0?
From the 19th July 2021, Scotland moves to an adapted ‘Level 0’ with many restrictions easing. The covid-19 pandemic is not over and we still need to remain cautious however, we are glad to say that Level 0 does open more availability for sports and activities here at Oriam.
We have outlined what Level 0 looks like at Oriam and our next steps for the future. We are following the Scottish Government and Sports Scotland Guidance for all activities. You can also check our FAQ page for more details before visiting Oriam.
Team Sports & Events
Contact sports can now resume indoors for all age groups. Training sessions and matches/competitions should follow the guidance of their sport governing body (i.e Sport Scotland, SFA, SRU, Scottish Squash). Oriam asks all visitors to wear a mask and observe social distancing in off-court/pitch spaces and clean equipment before and after sessions.
For matches and events, hall/pitch capacities will need to be observed including all players, coaches and officials. Spectators may be permitted to some events but will be assessed on a case by case basis and all precautions will need to be in place before event is approved.
Member’s Casual Sports
Badminton, Basketball, Squash & Table Tennis
From 19th July indoor contact sport is permitted for mixed households and all age groups, including adults. All activities must still be booked in advance and all participants must check-in at reception before play starts. We ask all visitors to observe social distancing and wear a mask when off-court or in corridor/reception spaces.
Please clean hands and equipment before and after use.
Member’s Fitness Suite
The Fitness booking schedule will remain in place for now to ensure we manage session capacities and regular cleaning. We have re-introduced more fitness equipment into the gym with 1 meter distancing in place. Please remember to clean all equipment before and after each use. Members do not need to wear a mask during your workout however please wear a mask outside of the gym, in corridor/reception spaces.
Member’s Group Exercise Classes
The Group Exercise classes will increase capacity from 15 to 30 spaces (depending on class type). Booking is essential and class capacities are set to ensure member safety and comfort. Equipment is available for classes however please clean your hands and equipment before and after use. You can find our current class schedule here.
Changing Rooms & Showers
For Members, Changing Rooms 3 & 4 (opposite the Fitness suite) are currently open for locker access and changing facilities. Maximum capacity for the changing rooms is 4 people. We plan to re-open the Shower Areas from 31st July. Maximum capacity for shower area is 2 people.
Oriam Bistro
Our Bistro upstairs will remain closed to the public for now. Our Bistro team will continue to offer a take-away service from the Tuk-tuk at Reception with freshly made refreshments, snacks and meals to enjoy. Some seating is available upstairs on the bridge outside of the Bistro or outdoors. Informal gatherings are currently set at a maximum of 10 people from 4 households indoors or 15 from 15 households outdoors.
Plans for the Future

Our next steps for Oriam will include shower access and a relaxation of the fitness booking schedule. We will always keep the safety and comfort of our customers & staff at the forefront of our decision making.
