An outstanding display of military courage, respect and discipline was staged at Oriam last Thursday, 8 November 2022. For the first time, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre hosted a Regimental Boxing Night in front of a cheering 900-strong crowd. A total of 20 boxers from The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) traded blows in the ring as they fought for battalion pride and bragging rights. Awards were handed out for the best boxer, most courageous boxer and finally, the champion battalion.

Oriam has hosted graduation ceremonies for Heriot-Watt University within its Multi-sport hall facility, this speaks volumes to Oriams versatility and how we will go above and beyond to facilitate events for our partners.

This year’s Yonex East of Scotland Championships were again held at the Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, at Heriot-Watt University on Sunday the 9th of April. The event organisers were very pleased to have an extremely large entry in the tournament which resulted in a large number of extremely competitive games on Saturday.

The Yonex East of Scotland Championships held their event across sports hall 1 and 2 utilising all of the available badminton courts for their highly attended competitive games over the 2 days.

 - 108 teams to take on the Battle Cancer workouts.

- 403 athletes to give it their all during the workouts.

- The athletes raised over £70,000 for their chosen cancer charities.

 These figures are amazing and support the fact that we (you included) collectively delivered our biggest Scotland event to date.  To say we are extremely proud is an understatement and again, cannot thank you enough.  We will certainly be in touch for our event next year.

The Squash Scottish Junior Inter-Regional Championships 2022 took place on the 3–4th September. Young squash players from all over the country came to the Capital to give it their all, there were a total of 96 Junior competitors from the 4 competing regions: West of Scotland, East of Scotland, Central, Highlands & Islands.

The event took place in the Oriam squash centre where junior athletes battled across 6 courts from as early as 9am on saturday morning, parents and coaches spectated behind the glass walls and on the balcony. Everyone played extremely well over the 2 day event, Overall the winning team for each age group were: West for U11s, East for U13s, West for U15s, West for U17s and East for U19s.

Oriam Loved accommodating the event and cannot wait to host another event for Scottish Squash.
