The Winning Students 100 Scholarship Programme supports 100 of the most talented student athletes in current study at Higher and Further Education institutions across Scotland. The programme, funded by Sport Scotland and Scottish Funding Council, provides grants of up to ÂŁ3000, to support dual-career athletes with expenses such as competition fees, travel and sport equipment.
Heriot Watt University are proud to have 11 student athletes, across a range of sports, represented on the programme for the 2024/25 academic year. Among our scholars is Scotland Men’s No. 1 Squash Player, Greg Lobban, professional rugby player, Ally Miller and a number of Scottish Institute of Sport supported athletes.
We asked our awarded athletes what their Winning Students 100 Scholarship means to them and how it will support them this academic year. Here’s what a few had to say:
“I am so grateful to receive the Winning Students 100 scholarship as it will help to cover the travel and training expenses that comes with sport, giving me more time to focus on school and training.
