KIDS - MINI AND JUNIOR SPORTS CLASSES

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR MINI AND JUNIOR CLASSES AT ORIAM?

At Oriam we offer sports classes for ages 2 - 15yrs within our Mini and Junior options. In Tennis there are further options for young adults aged 16 yrs+. The minimum and maximum age for a specific sport may vary. Our classes are grouped by age and ability to ensure the coaching matches the student's skill level and learning style.

WHICH SPORTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR MINI AND JUNIOR CLASSES?

We have specialist classes for Tennis and Squash alongside a range of Multi-Sport classes which are a great introduction to a variety of sports for younger children. You can find full details of our class options on our Kids Activities page. There are also a number of groups based at Oriam with coaching and classes for sports such as football and dancing however, we do not manage any of their class bookings.

HOW DO I BOOK A SPACE FOR MY CHILD?

You can book any of our current sports classes via our online class portal. From there, you can also manage all aspects of your child's class options and track their progress with feedback from their coach. All sports programme classes are now paid on a monthly Direct Debit which you can set-up at the point of booking. The monthly Direct Debit continues year-round even during holiday breaks. If you choose to cancel your direct debit at any point, your child's space will be released for another child to book.

DO I NEED TO STAY WITH MY CHILD DURING THEIR CLASS?

For children aged 8 years and under, a parent or guardian does need to stay within close proximity of the class, for the full duration. For children aged 9-15 year, a parent or guardian must remain in the building during the class but do not need to stay so close.

For classes held in our sports halls or squash courts, there is seating available with a clear view of the courts. For classes held in the Tennis Centre, parents can wait in the Tennis Lounge located just upstairs from the tennis entrance, there is currently no viewing area for the tennis courts. There is a café and vending machines available onsite.

WHAT ARE THE TERM DATES FOR MINI AND JUNIOR CLASSES?

DO I NEED TO BRING EQUIPMENT FOR MY CHILD'S CLASS?

All essential equipment is provided for our classes. For all children's classes, they should wear comfortable sports clothing and clean, non-marking trainers or tennis shoes. For Squash and Tennis, once a child has got into a good routine with their classes, we recommend getting a racquet of their own.

The size of the child plays a factor in the recommended racquet size but for Tennis,  generally we would recommend a player aged 3-4yrs uses a 19". 5-7yrs uses a 21". 8-9yrs uses a 23". 10-11yrs 25-26" and age 12+ uses a full size 27" racquet.

ADULT & JUNIOR SPORTS CLASSES - BOOKINGS, PAYMENTS & REFUNDS

HOW DO I PAY FOR A SPORTS PROGRAMME CLASS?

All adult and junior classes are paid by Direct Debit on a monthly basis. You can set-up your direct debit at the point of booking. Payments are made in advance and if you choose to cancel your direct debit at any point, your class space will be released for sale.

WHY CAN'T I PAY ON THE DAY?

We require payment in advance or at the time of booking to secure the space within the class.

IS THE PAYMENT IN ADVANCE OR ARREARS?

All sports programme classes are paid in advance.

WHY IS MY FIRST PAYMENT DIFFERENT TO THE REGULAR MONTHLY PAYMENT?

You may find that your first payment is different from the quoted monthly cost. This is because the first payment is a pro-rata amount based on when you join the class within the month. The standard monthly amount should commence from the next whole month.

WHAT HAPPENS IF ORIAM CANCELS A CLASS?

Oriam will refund any cancellations based on closure for emergency, maintenance, weather and staff sickness. No planned holidays will be refunded. Refunds will be paid directly back to the same bank account that your direct debit is taken from.

WHAT IF I CAN'T ATTEND A CLASS, WILL I BE GIVEN A REFUND?

No refunds will be provided for any participant absences.

HOW DO I CANCEL A CLASS AND WILL I GET ANY REFUND?

For all sports programme classes, if you wish to cancel please email tennis@oriam.hw.ac.uk to confirm your request to cancel. If cancellation is received by the 15th of the month, no further cost will be incurred for the following month's Direct Debit. Cancellation requests made after the 15th will still be included in the following month's direct debit.  No refund will be applied for a month that has already been paid.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY PAYMENTS DURING HOLIDAY BREAKS?

The monthly direct debit payments continue throughout the year, even through holiday breaks. The monthly cost does take account for the number of teaching weeks, spread out across 12 monthly instalments. If you choose to cancel your direct debit at any point, your space will be released for sale, so you may lose your spot in the class.

WILL THE MONTHLY PAYMENT AMOUNT CHANGE FOR MY CLASS?

Oriam reviews pricing on an annual basis and reserve the right to make any changes to the price of a product or service. Any price changes are typically made in August of each year, in line with the University financial year. Oriam will provide at lease 10 days notice of any changes made to your subscriptions.
