World Orienteering Championships - Edinburgh 2024

We are delighted to announce that we will be holding the World Orienteering Championships – Sprint Relay & Community Event, here at Oriam on Sunday the 14th of July. This event will attract some of the best orienteering competitors across the world and will be a fantastic event.

The event is being held across Edinburgh from 11th-16th July with competitors ranging from elite athletes to amateur competitors participating in the World Orienteering Championship Tour. The race will take place across Edinburgh from Leith and Central Edinburgh to Heriot-Watt University's Riccarton Campus and Wester Hailes. Its sure to be a fantastic event and we look forward to welcoming athletes and fans alike to Oriam on Sunday 14th July. 

Temporary Carpark Closure

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the event some of the access to campus will be restricted and there will be some temporary road closures on the campus. The planned activity in Oriam is controlled in the Indoor Pitch and Sports Hall. The event is being set up on Saturday 13th July and the main Orienteering event is from 11.00 on Sunday 14th July.

The Avenue, leading customers into Oriam will be closed from 11.00 -14.00 on Sunday 14th July, customers can still access campus through the Boundary Road from the entrance next to the Park and Ride. All buses will terminate at the Park and Ride between 11.00 –14.00.

The Oriam car park will be closed on Sunday 14th July until 14.00, customer can access campus via the Boundary Road and park in Car Park A which is situated next to the Marriot Courtyard Hotel.
