New Sport and Health Testing
Oriam Clinic are thrilled to launch a new series of Sport and Health Testing services later this month. This is an exciting development with collaboration from Heriot-Watt Sports and Exercise Science team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get an insight into your health and fitness performance with industry leading expertise and facilities.
What is Sport and Health Testing and who is it for? The testing services we will be offering are open to everyone, whether you're just trying to get healthier, recovering from injury, or training for a specific sports performance goal. Testing supports your training by offering measurable insight into your current strengths and weaknesses and helps you make informed decisions for your training or rehabilitation programme.
Move for Movember
Every year our staff and students participate in Movember, raising vital funds and awareness for Men's Health. At Heriot-Watt, Movember is more than just some interesting facial hair choices! Last year Heriot-Watt and the Sports Union raised over £9,500 to support men's physical and mental health. Can we do even better this year? HWU Football Scholar Gone Pro

November 2024| HWU Football Scholar, Barney Stewart signed a full-time professional contract with current Scottish League One Champions, Falkirk Football Club. The highly rated striker was the first Heriot-Watt University Football Scholar to sign a full-time professional contract and stands as a testament to the success of the university’s Football Scholarship Programme.
Barney, then a current 3rd Year BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science student, had a stellar career with the Heriot-Watt Football Club and enjoyed a successful first season with Falkirk FC. He is now on loan to Dunfermline Athletic Football Club for the 25/26 season.
Barney is our third Football Scholar to progress into professional football in the past two years, highlighting the success of Heriot-Watt University’s Scholarship Programme. This showcases the investment into the very best facilities and coaching for Heriot-Watt Football Club and the Football Scholarship Programme, alongside the achievements of the team under Head Football Coach, Olabanji Koya.
Squeeze in Some Squash
November 2024| We were thrilled to host Stage One of the BUCS Premier Northern League for Squash. The competition was held in our Squash courts on the 9th and 10th November, 2024. It was a fantastic opportuntiy for Heriot-Watt Men's 1st team to compete at home against other university teams from across Scotland and the North of England. The Heriot-Watt Men's 1s ended the weekend victorious, retaining their title from the previous year.
Feeling inspired to play? We also have a growing Community Squash Club open to all abilities with fun and friendly coaching sessions and box-league competitions, plus you get 10 court-bookings per month with your club membership.
