Welcome to the May edition of What's On at Oriam. As the days are getting brighter and (hopefully) a bit warmer we are preparing for a Spring and Summer full of sport! Don't go anywhere, we have plenty of new activities, sports and resources to share with you.
Good Luck for Exams!
Look after your wellbeing whilst you study
Exam season is now here, good luck to everyone preparing for end of year exams and coursework submissions. Remember to look after yourself with good sleep, good food and regular breaks to just move and breathe.
The Heriot-Watt Wellbeing team have been rolling-out a new initiative for students across all campuses. They have introduced 'Brain Breaks' to teaching time, giving all students a chance to move, re-set and re-focus. These are simple wellbeing exercises that can be done with no equipment and limited space so you can also try them at home, in the office or the library.
If you do need some extra support during a stressful time, there are many resources out there for mental health support. Heriot-Watt students can access support through the university here. Not a Heriot-Watt Student? You can visit our charity partners at Back Onside with mental health resources and emergency support.
Clean Sport Week

This summer is packed with international sport including the Olympics, Paralympics and Euros! For athletes and their support teams across the world, training and competing with integrity will be at the forefront, whilst they strive for those elusive podium places.
This includes some of our own Heriot-Watt and Oriam staff and students. Interested in learning more? Join us at Oriam for a two-part seminar on Wednesday 15th May from 5:30pm. Join Dr. Fergus Guppy, Associate Professor of Sport and Exercise Science and Clean Sport Lead for Heriot-Watt University, and Vicky Ward, one of our expert Sport Scientists, to learn more about the ongoing research and real-life application of Clean Sport in the 'Journey to the Podium'.
