We're wrapping up a summer packed full of sport and looking forward to the start of a new term at Heriot-Watt and much more for you to enjoy this month! Welcome Back Heriot-Watt Students!
The 25/26 academic year kicks off this month






We're excited to welcome all the new and returning Heriot-Watt students back to campus this September for another year of academic excellence and a whole calendar packed with Student Sport, Fitness and Wellbeing at Oriam.
We kick-off the term with Welcome week from 30th August - 7th September. Don't miss out on the highlight of the week, the big Watt Welcome Fair on Wednesday 3rd September, 11am - 4pm. Shake-up your Fitness Routine this month
The gym will be busier this month, here are a few alternatives for you to try at Oriam.

Strength and Conditioning Suite
If the main Fitness Suite is filing up, you can try our Strength and Conditioning gym instead. located next to Squash Court 1, the S&C Gym is split into 3 areas. Areas 1 and 2 are always open to members. Area 3, with the green push-track may be booked by training groups. If you're unsure where to find it, ask for directions from our Reception team or Fitness Team.
Squash
Did you know we have eight squash courts at Oriam? You can book a court on our Oriam App and equipment is available to hire at Reception. We also have a growing community Squash Club that runs alongside the Sports Union Club. Both clubs are open to players of all abilities, no previous experience required!
First Steps on a New Fitness Journey
Applications open for two great programmes
If you're struggling with your fitness goals and motivation, we might be able to help. This autumn we are starting two great programmes with all the support from our fitness and wellbeing teams.
Couch to 5k Club
Want to improve your cardio and endurance but not sure where to start? Got your goals set on running a marathon but not started running round the block? Couch to 5k is a great way to gradually build up your running endurance and confidence.
Weekly sessions led by one of our fitness team, aiming to run the Oriam Parkrun in December.
Transform in Eight

Join our next Transform in Eight Challenge. Find your baseline stats, build confidence with programming and support from our Fitness team, all with a little competitive challenge. Who will win the prize for most improvement through the eight weeks.

Oriam Tennis Classes are Back on Court
The Tennis Programme is back after Summer break! The programme coaching classes are almost full however we still have a great selection of weekly drop-in classes available on our timetable every week.
Our drop-in classes include:
- Tennis Tuesdays - Every Tuesday from 10am - 11:30am
- Social Tennis Match-play - Thursdays at 10am and Fridays at 7pm
- Cardio Tennis - Coming Soon! These classes will be included in our Fitness Group Exercise options and free to Members!
